But, today is Friday, which means it's time for....
My favorite thing that I'm sharing this week is more of an obsession.... I
Now I don't know about you, but I can't stand wimpy pens. I like a sturdy pen with bold color. The one above is a Parker ball point pen. I'm not usually one for the fancy refillable pens, but my Office Depot closed out their pink and purple Parker Gel Refills (like 25 cents for a 2 pack), so I had to invest in a Parker pen! This is one of my go-to pens and since I have about 20 refill packs, I think I'm good for a while :)
I also have pens with a story... Hubs knows that I <3 pens that he's even sent me "pen bouquets" in lieu of flowers for Valentine's. I try to use the pens below very sparingly because they are very close to my heart...
The pens above were given to me by hubby on June 4, 2010. No, I don't usually keep track of when my pens were acquired, but these pens are special. Hubs bought these for me on the day my sister died from cancer. I had sent him to the store in order to buy paper products in anticipation of the crowds that would be gathering at sis's house and when he got back from the store, he pulled me back into one of the bedrooms and pulled the pens out. I can still hear him saying, "I know this is silly, but I saw these and thought they might make you feel a little bit better on a sad day." AWWWW - is there any doubt why I love this man??? :)
I am definitely not a pen snob... I will buy pens anywhere just to try them out. Some of my favorite ballpoint pens came from Big Lots but I forgot to take a picture of them. No matter which store I go in, I *must* check out the stationary aisle. Every once in a while, I come across a real winner. The pens below are from Dollar General for $2 and I *love* these for grading! They are bright bold colors and never skip (I hate when pens do that!). They are so smooth to write with - and it's a bonus that they have an orange... I <3 orange pens!
While orange pens are pretty darn awesome, my favorite color is....
PURPLE!!! Sadly, this is just a small subset of the pens in my desk and its not all of the purple pens I have... LOL :) The Energel at the top is a great pen... they also come in black, blue, red, and green.
What are your favorite pens??? I'm always on the lookout for new ones! :)

This post is dangerous. I want to go out and buy some pens now. I have been writing comments on my students' papers in red. Ouch, I know. I need a new color. I was thinking green or purple.
ReplyDeleteRight now my favorite pen is the Sharpie pen (fine). I've been too lazy to find another one and I need another one. The Sharpie pen bleeds through the paper. I'm going shopping today!!
I also LOVE pens. This year's new favorite is the Pilot Frixion Extra Fine Point. It comes in a three pack of green, pink, and purple. They are super bright, don't skip, AND erasable! Don't be fooled and get the fine point, not as good and doesn't erase as well.
ReplyDelete@SimpRad - I have the Sharpie pens too! I took a pic of them, but didn't add them to the post. I like the fushia and orange :)
ReplyDelete@fourkatie - I bought some of those last week when Office Depot had them on sale. I haven't played with them yet, but now I will need to!
Purple is my favorite too!! I love love love the BIC Atlantis pens and last year I had to resort to buying the combo pack of purple, pink, blue and green...now the other colors are wasting away in my desk. But the other day I found JUST packs of purple and I literally reached to the back of the shelf and pulled the entire stock into my cart. I'm hoping I'm good for the year!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that your husband gave you a bouquet of pens...reminds me of "You've Got Mail" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan: "I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address..." Perhaps the flower topped pencils would bring new meaning to that movie quote...HAHAHA
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my Pilot g-2 07s. I am in a serious committed relationship with them. But I think the other teachers steal them from me! (It could be my kids!)
ReplyDeleteThe pen under (purple is my favorite color) IS my favorite pen OF ALL TIMES! I buy them in bulk and have them everywhere. Even bedside. lol! Always. Grading.
ReplyDeleteHere is my favorite pen. http://stylusnut.blogspot.com/2012/01/multicolor-pens-rotring-quad.html (not my blog, just a review I found). It is a Rotring Quad pen.
ReplyDeleteI currently have it configured with Black ink, Blue ink, PURPLE ink and a .5mm pencil.
I am never seen at school without this pen in my pocket. I love it and have had it for about 10 years now. The sad thing is they don't make them any more, so when this is gone, I am in trouble!
I love pens too! In college all I used was my Cross pen and pencil set which has long ago disappeared. Now my pen of choice is Zebra. I only like writing with black ink over blue. My favorite color though is pink! Love your topic. :)
ReplyDeleteI posted about my favorite Formative Assessment this week @luvbcd
Sorry I forgot the post link

@MsMac - LOL - I like the fine point RSVP in purple too, but they discontinued them except in the mega packs... when I found them at Dollar Tree, I stocked up! :)
ReplyDelete@reminoodle - he is a really awesome guy :) <3 my hubs!
@Mrs. L - I've not used the G2s for a while, but a great friend gave me 2 of them yesterday (in maroon, our school color).. <3 new pens! :)
@Julie - you found the Energel's in bulk??? where?!?!?!?
@Glenn - how cool!!! Bummer that they aren't made anymore :(
@luvbcd - I like fushia pink pens too.. that's in a tie with Orange as my 2nd favorite color :)
Your pens make me drool! I have to say the purple Energel is one of my fav as well! I also use a lot of the Sharpie pens and my secretary keeps me in stock of Uniball Signo 207. Love the fun colors!

My favorite pens are the free ones my husband brings home from his Adobe conference swag...jk
ReplyDeleteI like to use bic flair felt pens...I think it is the colors and the nostalgia.
Amy
I can't believe how many people are so passionate about their pens. :) Add me to the list. I'm now into the Sharpie fine-point pens that don't bleed through the paper. (They have a lovely purple, by the way, and they sell the individual pens at Target.) Definitely a fun Friday post!
ReplyDeleteLol! I like how we say the pen name like it's an exotic car or something. I'm like Mrs. L, I have a fetish for the Pilot G2 series. I'll spaz on somebody super quick about my pens. Pack of 12 is like $20!
